Summary:
This is a request for renewal of a special use permit (SUP) to allow animal care with indoor or outdoor kennel for The Pet Ranch at 12700 W. 151st Street. The initial special use permit (SU-08-003) was approved in 2008, in which an analysis of the special use criteria was completed, and staff has found that the application remains in conformance with the current SUP criteria. A renewal permit (SU-13-002) was approved in 2013 to continue the use as an animal boarding facility. The current SUP is now expired and this request is to continue operating in the same manner as previously approved.
The existing boarding facility consists of indoor kennels and outdoor dog runs, as well as outdoor play areas, training areas, and a members-only park. The site's existing landscaping conforms to the previously approved landscape plan. The applicant is proposing to change the building-mounted light fixtures to comply with UDO requirements. No other changes to the site are required or proposed with this project. The applicant is amenable to all recommended stipulations and the ten (10) year renewal time period.
The Planning Commission held a Public Hearing on September 28, 2026, and no public comments were provided for this application. The Planning Commission voted 7-0 to recommend approval of SU26-0008 as presented in the meeting minutes.
