Summary:
This is a request for renewal of a special use permit (SUP) to allow the indoor amusement land use for Centerfire Shooting Sports located at 875 N. Jan-Mar Court. The initial special use permit (SU-11-010) was approved in 2011, in which an analysis of the special use criteria was completed, and staff has found that the application is still in conformance with the current SUP criteria. A renewal permit (SU-16-008) was approved in 2016 to allow an indoor amusement facility to continue operating in the same manner as previously approved.
The existing facility is in a 24,700-square-foot building and includes an indoor shooting range, offices, a retail shop, and a warehouse. The property contains existing landscaping which will remain and continue to be maintained by the applicant. In the submitted landscape plan, the applicant identified three trees along the east property line for replacement to comply with the approved landscape plan. No other changes to the site are required or proposed with this project. The applicant is amenable to all recommended stipulations and the ten (10) year renewal time period.
The Planning Commission held a Public Hearing on September 28, 2026, with one individual speaking in support of the request. The individual stated that he is a frequent patron of the business and described it as a professionally run organization with helpful staff. Following discussion, the Planning Commission voted 7 to 0 to recommend approval of SU26-0011 as stipulated by staff.
