Acceptance of bid and consideration of award of contract to Conrad Fire Equipment Inc. for the fleet purchase of one (1) Pierce Enforcer HazMat fire apparatus for the Fire Department.

Summary:
The Fire Department established a task force of Fire Department and Resource Management personnel in 2016 to review the various manufacturers of fire apparatus. The result of the task force was a decision to establish Pierce Manufacturing Inc., as the City’s standard. Pierce fire apparatus are purchased through the Houston-Galveston Area Cooperative (HGAC), a national competitive bidding cooperative, and is locally managed by Conrad Fire Equipment Inc. (HGAC Contract# 12-19).
Fire Department staff recommends the purchase of one Pierce Enforcer HazMat fire apparatus.
The recommendation includes-
-One (1) Pierce Enforcer Haz-Mat apparatus. The cost for the one (1) Haz-Mat apparatus is $ 1,908,119.15.
This apparatus will be purchased as part of the projected approved budget and the regular vehicle replacement process.
This Haz-Mat apparatus is scheduled to be delivered 43 months from the approval for purchase. Estimated delivery is December 2027.
Additional accessory equipment for the apparatus will be purchased from various vendors at an estimated cost of $325,000. For a total cost of $2,233,119.15.
Staff recommends award of contract to Conrad Fire Equipment Inc., an Olathe vendor.

Financial Impact:
$2,233,119.15 for the Pierce Fire Apparatus and accessory equipment. Apparatus funding will come from the Vehicle Equipment Replacement Fund (VERF).
