recommended motion:

I move to approve Amendment No.1 to the Fire Protection Services Agreement between the City of Olathe and Johnson County Consolidated Fire District No. 1.

________________________________________________________________________________

Summary:

The City of Olathe and Johnson County Consolidated Fire District 1 executed an agreement in 2025 that outlined responsibilities in providing fire protection and emergency first response and rescue services to residents in specific areas of unincorporated Johnson County, Kansas. The intent was to give direction to the County Communications Center to dispatch Olathe units to the areas regardless of the specific status of individual annexations or detachments to simplify response for both City and Consolidated Fire District 1 personnel to those areas.

This Amendment No. 1 extends the agreement to include the provision of Fire Protection Services for areas within the Fire District’s boundaries that are annexed by the City in the future. Again, this will clarify service response changes moving forward. These changes are not expected to impact the overall fire department call volume as these unincorporated areas are lightly populated.
