Summary:
Environmental Services staff are making modifications to the chlorine dioxide generators to improve the reliability of the system. This project will consist of adding flow meters and flow control valves, replacement of the existing PLC at each generator, programming of the automated functionality, electrical and controls, and field installation, startup, and training. Automating the system, in contrast with the current method of manually controlling the chemicals, will provide the following benefits:
• Ensure chemicals aren’t inadvertently underfed or overfed, which will help maintain a consistent chlorine dioxide concentration.
• Improve tracking of chemicals for purposes of chemical inventory, regulatory reporting, and system trouble shooting.
• Provide for safer and more productive monitoring and operation of the equipment.
• Most importantly, the automation of this will help keep us in regulatory compliance.
The City has reached out directly to the equipment supplier for pricing associated with the purchase and installation of these improvements directly associated and proprietary to this equipment for installation. This quote is $172,217.00.
Work is anticipated to be complete by Winter 2024.
