Summary:
This project is needed to address safety and capacity concerns in the area. The project will improve 159th Street from 1,000’ west of Mur-Len to Black Bob Road from a 2-lane rural section to a 4-lane arterial with turn lanes. Improvements will include pavement construction, curb and gutter, medians, streetlights, sidewalks, bike lanes, storm sewer, modifications to the existing stream crossing and a new traffic signal at 159th and Brougham.
The estimated cost for this project is $20,365,000 including preliminary and final design, utility relocations, staff time, land acquisition, permitting, construction and inspection.
This project is tentatively scheduled for design in 2025/2026, land acquisition and utility relocations in 2026, and construction in 2027.

Funding for the 159th Street, Mur-Len to Black Bob, Improvements Project, as approved in the 2025-2029 Capital Improvement Plan, includes:
