Summary:
The ordering of fleet vehicles and related equipment became difficult after 2020, with short ordering windows and extended delivery times. To mitigate this, since 2022 the City has requested the Council’s pre-authorization for the ordering of vehicles for the following year. This has allowed City staff to make purchases promptly when vehicle manufacturers’ order banks open on short notice, allowing the City to purchase at market-competitive pricing.
The Resolution No. 26-1080 authorizes the ordering of the vehicles not to exceed the total amount budgeted in the Vehicle Equipment and Replacement Fund for 2027 $10,332,350. This includes the replacement of 97 existing vehicles and adding 3 new vehicles. The budgeted cost includes the cost of the vehicle plus add-on equipment.
All vehicle purchases are to be made in accordance with the City’s procurement policies and procedures. A report of the orders placed under this authorization will be included in each Quarterly Procurement Report provided to the Council after the order(s) are placed.
