Summary:
This agreement allows Crouch Recreation, Inc. to be responsible for the purchase and installation of playground equipment, playground safety surfacing (synthetic turf), small shade structures, musical features, site furniture and a new picnic shelter at Black Bob Park.
The project’s design consultant, Tessere, in the process of playground design, recommended Kompan, represented by Crouch Recreation, Inc. Staff researched other playground manufacturers such as Game Time Recreation and Miracle Recreation and they, in turn, assembled reasonable concept designs for the proposed destination play space. However, Kompan was ultimately chosen as the company to provide equipment, furnishings and safety surface because their offerings provided the best value and service needs to the City of Olathe.
The agreement is for $993,711.00. Crouch Recreation has their own, experienced construction team. OMNIA Partners is the cooperative purchasing agreement being utilized for these playground features.
This playground equipment manufacturing is scheduled to begin after approval of the agreement. The destination playground will be complete by May 2025.

2024 Park Sales Tax $ 1,000,000
2025 Park Sales Tax $ 1,000,000
2025 Park Excise Tax $ 2,000,000
