Summary:
This project will rehabilitate the 103rd Street Lift Station and associated forcemain, which serves much of the Cedar Creek area. It also includes the installation of a new sewer forcemain, and abandonment of the existing forcemain which runs along the south side of Shadow Glen Lake. The lift station and forcemain were both originally constructed in 1984. The lift station is undersized for current conditions, and the existing equipment is beyond the expected useful life of 20 to 25 years. The forcemain runs along the south side of Shadow Glen Lake and has experienced several major breaks in recent years. Due to its location, it is difficult to maintain and repair, and has a high potential for adverse environmental impacts.
A Professional Services Agreement with Burns & McDonnell was approved by City Council on December 5, 2017, to perform a preliminary study of the project, with hydraulic modeling and proposal of project alternatives. Supplemental Agreement No. 2 was approved by City Council on December 7, 2021, for engineering design of the project. This project was run in tandem with Johnson County Wastewater (JCW) basin hydraulic studies along the K-10 corridor which are also developing and may impact the potential capacity needs of the lift station and forcemain. Supplemental Agreement No. 3 was a by approved by the City Manager’s Office on November 20, 2023, and included minor survey additions that were needed for completion of the bid documents.
On October 15, 2024, City Council approved a contract with Infrastructure Solutions to construct this project. This Supplement Agreement No. 4 will allow Burns & McDonnell to provide construction management and inspections services as needed throughout the construction phase of the project. The total fee for Supplemental Agreement No. 4 is $198,264.
Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin Q1 2025 with completion in Q2 2026
