Summary:
This item was provided as a report on the City Council agenda on July 7, 2026. Following that meeting, staff adjusted the provisions regarding interference with law enforcement for consistency regarding law enforcement identification, pursuant to a Councilmember’s request.
Every summer, staff prepares updates to sections within Title 9 of the Olathe Municipal Code (“O.M.C.”) to align them with state law; make changes proposed by the prosecutors, police, or others; and make technical corrections. This year’s changes can be found in the proposed Ordinance 26-43 (Attachment A). Source legislation and statutes for those changes aligning the O.M.C. with state law are also attached. (Attachment C).
The attached Summary of Proposed Changes (Attachment B) provides additional detail regarding the proposed ordinance.
