Consideration of Ordinance No. 24-55 approving an engineer’s survey and authorizing the acquisition of land for the Black Bob Road, 153rd Terrace to 159th Street, Improvements Project, PN 3-C-041-23.

Summary:

This project was authorized by Resolution No. 23-1022 on March 21, 2023. This project will improve Black Bob Road from 153rd Terrace to 159th Street from a 2-lane roadway to a 4-lane divided arterial section.  Improvements will include pavement construction, curb and gutter, medians, streetlights, sidewalk and sidepath and storm sewers.

 

Land acquisition is currently underway.  A total of thirty-seven (37) tracts of land are involved with easement and right-of-way acquisition for this project, of which nine (9) tracts are included in the proposed ordinance.  The interests to be acquired include permanent road right-of-way and temporary and permanent easements required to construct the project.  No total takings of any properties are involved in the project.

 

A resolution authorizing a survey of certain tracts of land necessary to be acquired for the project was considered earlier on tonight’s agenda.  The ordinance (Attachment A) approves the survey of the land and authorizes the filing of an eminent domain petition in Johnson County District Court to acquire easements on the 4 properties listed in the ordinance).  A parcel map depicting each of the right-of-way and easement areas to be acquired for the project is included as Attachment B.

Financial Impact:

Funding for the Black Bob Road, 153rd Terrace to 159th Street, Improvements Project, as approved in the 2025-2029 Capital Improvement Plan, includes:
