Consideration of an Interlocal Agreement with Johnson County Park and Recreation District (JCPRD) for site access and reimbursement of funds for the Cedar Creek Trail, Phase III, Project, PN 4-C-009-24.

Summary:

This project, Cedar Creek Streamway Trail Phase III, will be a 10-foot wide recreational, multi-modal streamway trail segment that will connect Beaver Shelter in Lake Olathe Park with the multi-use paved trail at Johnson County Park and Recreation District’s (JCPRD) Cedar Niles Park. The length of this segment is approximately one mile.

 

This agreement will allow JCPRD to reimburse the City of Olathe an amount up to $45,000 for construction of the portion of the recreational trail in Cedar Niles Park. The length of the new trail in Cedar Niles Park is approximately 200 feet in length.

 

Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in Fall/Winter 2025 with completion anticipated in Summer 2026.

Financial Impact:

Funding for the Cedar Creek Streamway Trail Phase III Project includes the following sources:

 

                                          Federal – Transportation Alternatives (TA)                     $ 1,096,000

                                          Park Sales Tax                                                                                                         $ 1,600,000

                                          TOTAL                                                                                                                              $ 2,696,000
