Summary:
This project will modify site piping at the Black Bob Standpipes and Pump Station to allow the larger Black Bob #2 standpipe to be removed from service for maintenance without impacting pump station operations. Continued operation of this pump station is required to maintain adequate pressures in the Southeast Pressure Zone of the distribution system. The original pump station building in the center of the site is no longer in use though still requires continued maintenance each year. This project will demolish the building and convert the area to additional parking lot and green space.
During construction, it was discovered that the two large butterfly valves that isolate the Black Bob #2 standpipe from the pump station are in poor operating condition and require replacement. This $61,720 Change Order No. 2 will allow for the replacement of a 24-inch and a 36-inch valve at this site.
The original scope of construction has been completed. Work associated with Change Order No. 2 will take place during the fall or winter 2024 season when lower water demands will allow for removing both standpipes and the pump station from service during construction.
