Summary:
The public hearing is being held to allow interested Olathe agencies, organizations, and individuals an opportunity to provide ideas and proposals for public services, housing, public improvements, and/or community development needs and priorities for Olathe’s 2027 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding.
Interested parties are also invited to share comments about past performance of CDBG funded projects.
This public hearing is required by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development and is the first step in the City’s annual process of preparing an application for CDBG funds.
The City has a long-standing cooperative partnership with Johnson County for receiving and administering CDBG funds. As a result of the Cooperation Agreement, the City of Olathe will receive 41% of the County’s 2027 CDBG project funds based on the FY 2010 census information.
Applications for 2027 CDBG funding are due to the City by 12:00 pm on June 5, 2026. Council members will consider funding requests in July.
