Summary:
The Fire Department is requesting approval to purchase a Fire Safety Simulator from JHB Group Inc. The trailer will be replacing the Fire Departments’ 2002 Fire Safety House. This Fire Safety Simulator will support the mission of the Community Risk Reduction section of the Fire Department and will be operated by the department’s Public Education team. The unit will provide the opportunity to educate every City of Olathe second grader on the best practices of fire and life safety in and around the home.
The Fire Department received a grant from the Department of Homeland Security for the FY 2024 Fire Prevention and Safety (FP) grant. The grant award is in the amount of $230,476.19 in Federal Funding and requires an equal or greater match of 5% or $11,523.81 to a total of $242,000.
The Fire Safety Simulator will be purchased through the Cooperative - Sourcewell Contract Training Pricing Discount JHB Group Inc 102325-JHB.
The Fire Department recommends the award of contract to JHB Group Inc for the purchase of one (1) Fire Safety Simulator.

Financial Information:
$241,414 for one (1) JHB Group Inc Fire Safety Simulator.
Federal Funding via FY24 Fire Prevention and Safety (FP) grant will cover $230,476.19
The Fire Department will cover the 5% match no less than $11,523.81 from the Fire Department’s 2026 operating budget.
