Summary:
The Animal Care Facility project started in August of 2023 with a pre-design effort that concluded in October of 2023. At that point the project paused until late 2024 when a new site was evaluated in more detail at Santa Fe and Ridgeview Road (re: Supplemental agreement no. 2, dated 12/2/2024). An Amendment to the original agreement was executed in March 2025 to proceed with full design on the Santa Fe site. The basis for this amendment considered an owner’s budget for the cost of the Work as $13,676,408 with a completion date for construction documents anticipated to be on or about December 31, 2025.
In September 2025, the Animal Care Facility project was put on hold, though building demolition and site preparation continued. The architect and contractor team continued to respond to project inquiries and prepare presentations until the project was restarted in mid-December 2025.
In December 2025, the anticipated Cost of the Work budget increased to $16,600,000 (an increase of approximately $2,900,000). The requested change order provides for payment of professional services fees in the amount of $150,800 to SFS Architecture, for the work performed due to the change in project scope (from December 2025 through May 2026).
The Animal Care Facility project is again on hold as staff evaluate project budgets and scope.
