Summary:
In 2026 The Kansas Legislature created the Kansas Sports Facilities Authority to provide for the construction, financing, and management of certain sports facilities and sports facility infrastructure. As the Kansas City Chiefs’ practice facility and headquarters is being built in Olathe, HB 2466 provides a position on the Authority for an appointment by the Mayor of Olathe. Mayor Bacon has elected to appoint himself, for which the bill requires a member of Olathe’s governing body to review Mayor Bacon’s criminal history record check. Mayor Bacon has selected Robyn Essex for this role.
