Summary:
The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) is drafting a Corridor Management Plan for the US-169/K-7 corridor from the I-35/151st Street interchange in Olathe to 215th Street in Spring Hill (roughly the Johnson County/Miami County line).
The Corridor Management Plan has the following goals:
a) Serve as a framework for future potential highway enhancements
b) Describe and identify access management objectives for the Corridor
c) Promote effective interconnectivity of the local street/road network with US-169/K-7
d) Benefit the traveling public
e) Enhance the management of the Corridor by improving safety and traffic operations, and by encouraging uniformity in the management of the Corridor
f) Protect the integrity of the Corridor, support overall economic development, and balance the needs of the public highway system with the interests of individual property owners.
g) Promote safe and efficient access to US-169/K-7 and encourage orderly land, utility, and roadway development
This Agreement serves to identify the responsibilities of KDOT, the City of Olathe, Johnson County, and the City of Spring Hill in connection with this project. The total cost of the Corridor Management Plan is $651,000. KDOT will be contributing $450,000 (70%) with each local government (Olathe, Johnson County, and Spring Hill) contributing $67,000 (10%).
Work on the Corridor Management Plan has begun and it expected to be completed in Fall 2026.

Financial Impact:
The City of Olathe’s financial contribution to the Corridor Management Plan is $67,000 and will come for the Engineering department’s operating budget.
