Summary:
Kansas State Statutes, K.S.A. 12-517, requires that each City within the State of Kansas annually submit a revised legal description that defines the boundary of their incorporated City limits. The revised legal description for the City boundary is then filed with the office of the County Clerk before the last day of December each year in which any territory has been added to their City limits. The following annexations were effective in 2025:
1. Ordinance 25-04 annexed approximately 7.57 acres located southwest of 159th and Black Bob Road (ANX24-0006).
2. Ordinance 25-08 annexed approximately 7.93 acres located northwest of 143rd Street and S. Lakeshore Drive (ANX25-0001).
3. Ordinance 25-11 annexed approximately 146 acres located northeast of 175th Street and Lone Elm Road (ANX25-0002).
4. Ordinance 25-28 annexed approximately 37.56 acres located southwest of 167th Street and Lone Elm Road (ANX25-0003).
5. Ordinance 25-35 annexed approximately 55.92 acres located northwest of 175th Street and Woodland Road (ANX24-0005).
6. Ordinance 25-52 annexed approximately 80.45 acres located northwest of 171st Street and Lone Elm Road (ANX25-0005).
This resolution revises the City boundary to include territory annexed during 2025. The annexation ordinances published in 2025 include approximately 335.43± acres of annexed land. At present date, the City of Olathe encompasses approximately 42,237± acres, or 65.9± square miles.
