Summary:
This item was provided as a report on the City Council agenda on July 7, 2026. Following that meeting, staff added a section to the proposed ordinance updating provisions prohibiting the use of certain motor vehicle braking systems within the City. The Summary of Proposed Changes has been updated with additional information on this change.
Every summer, staff prepares updates to sections of the Olathe Traffic Ordinance within the Olathe Municipal Code (“O.M.C.”) to align them with state law; make changes proposed by the prosecutors, police, or others; and make technical corrections. These changes can be found in the proposed Ordinance 26-44 (Attachment A). Source legislation for those changes aligning the O.M.C. with state law are also attached (Attachment C).
The attached Summary of Proposed Changes (Attachment B) provides additional detail regarding the proposed ordinance.
