Summary:
This project is a collaboration between Johnson County and the City of Olathe to construct a parking garage in the current City Hall parking lot. This facility will be available for use by City and County staff, visitors, and the general public. The project is estimated to cost $22.5 million, which will cover the expenses related to design, construction, and inspection. The project was approved as a Design-Build project, with Nabholz Construction being the prime, and Finkle + Williams being the Design Architect. Desman is the garage subject matter expert. The planning phase began in Fall 2025. Bidding was completed in May 2026.
With this approval, we anticipate construction to start by the end of June 2026. Completion of the project is slated for August of 2027. Approval of Nabholz Construction Amendment No.1 to the Design Build Contract is requested in the amount of Nineteen Million, Three Hundred and Fifty Six Thousand and Five Hundred and Sixty Six Dollars.($19,356,566) This is additive to the previously approved amount of One Million Sixty Two Thousand Dollars ($1,062,000.00) for the City Hall Parking Garage Project PN 6-C-003-24
