Summary:
The approved 2024-2028 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) includes the Modernization of Fire Stations project with a total project budget of $1,050,000. This project is for updates and modernization to existing fire department facilities.
This project will target interior renovations and building expansion needed at Fire Station No. 2. The award of the FY2022 SAFER GRANT allowed the Fire Department the opportunity to add an additional 24/7 staffed apparatus for calls for service to Fire Station No. 2. Daily staffing will increase from nine to thirteen members. The renovations and expansions as part of this project will increase the number of sleeping rooms, increase storage for personnel protective equipment, and increase the exercise room for staff.
Attached is Resolution 24-1016 which authorizes $1,050,000 in general obligation bond funding for the project. Approval of this funding resolution is necessary to allow for the design and construction of the project. Pending approval of this resolution, the next two items on the Council agenda are a contract award for design services and a contract award for construction management services.
