Report on the authorization of the Salt Barn #2 Project, PN 6-C-030-25.

Summary:

This project includes the design and construction of an 80’ x 140’ fabric and steel framed building set on a concrete pad and pier foundations. The building will serve as a second City of Olathe Salt Barn capable of holding 6,000 tons of salt for the City’s Snow and Ice Operations. The new building will allow the city to discontinue leasing space in the Meritex caves saving $18K per year.

 

Location for the building, including the Robinson campus, are currently being evaluated and assessed.

 

The estimated cost for this project is $655,000 including design, land assessment, permitting, construction and inspection.

 

Design and construction of the new salt barn is tentatively scheduled for 2025/2026.

Funding for the Salt Barn #2 Project, as approved in the 2025-2029 Capital Improvement Plan, includes:
