Summary:
In June 2022, Council approved contract with K & W Underground, Inc. for directional drilling services. These services include the installation of water and sewer mains ranging from 6-inch to 12-inch, installation of water service laterals ranging in size from ¾-inch to 4-inch and all necessary preparation work needed for the performance of this service. The directional drilling service is utilized when open-cut installation of a water or sewer main would be too disruptive to the surrounding area. The impact to our residents is less when the City can use the directional drilling services.
Staff recommends renewal of the contract with K & W Underground, Inc. for one (1)-year term with options to extend for additional contract periods.

Financial Impact:
Anticipated expenditures for the contract term are $200,000. Funding will be from the Utility Maintenance operating budget.
