Summary:
In June 2025, the City entered into a contract with Arcwood Environmental for the disposal of household hazardous waste. Johnson County and the City of Olathe continue to maintain a cooperative agreement for the disposal of household hazardous waste (HHW) to reduce stream and waterway pollution resulting from improper disposal. Olathe's participation enhances the County's HHW program by providing an additional disposal location at the City's facility located at 1420 S. Robinson Drive in Olathe, Kansas. Johnson County provides annual funding to allow County residents to dispose of HHW at the Olathe facility.
This continued partnership with Johnson County has resulted in increased participation in household hazardous waste collection efforts and provides an important environmental service to both City and County residents.
Staff recommend renewal of the contract with Arcwood Environmental for one (1)-year term with options to extend for additional contract periods.

Financial Information:
Anticipated expenditures for the contract term are $168,000 and are charged to the Solid Waste Fund.
