Consideration of Interlocal Agreement with Johnson County Wastewater for reimbursement of work associated with the JCW Doghouse Manhole Project, 1-C-023-22.

Summary:

This project will replace Johnson County Wastewater (JCW) corroded 24-inch ductile iron sanitary sewer main that crosses directly through Olathe’s 48-inch Indian Creek sanitary sewer interceptor manhole. Olathe constructed the manhole around JCW’s existing 24-inch sanitary sewer main due to both mains having the exact same elevations and topography. Following the replacement, the manhole and the crossing pipe will be epoxy lined to extend the life of the City’s manhole and the JCW sanitary sewer main.  During construction it was determined by JCW and our contractor the best solution would be to thermoliner their sanitary sewer main and not replace just the section through the manhole.

This agreement will allow JCW to reimburse the City for thermolining that was performed on their sewer main that intersects one of our manhole structures in the Indian Creek sewer basin.

The construction cost for the thermoliner is $67,361.  This cost includes the cost of the material and installation of the liner.

Construction of the City’s project was completed in late Fall 2024.
