Summary:

As part of the ongoing facility improvements at Blackbob Park, Empire Netting and Fence will manufacture and install eight Tiger Net baseball/softball backstops.  These new backstops will replace the existing structures on Athletic Fields 1 through 8, which were installed over 30 years ago.  Replacing the backstops will improve the spectator viewing experience, provide an additional 12,490 square feet of spectator safety coverage compared to the current backstops, and reduce annual maintenance costs associated with the aging infrastructure.  We will also replace the worn 25-foot-tall safety net along the outfield fence at Blackbob Field 5 with a new net to protect the pool from softballs during games.

The purchase will be made through TIPS cooperative contract #240803.  Installation will be scheduled for winter 2026-27 and have little to no effect on the baseball/softball playing season.
