Summary:
In 2022, the Utility Maintenance Section of Infrastructure worked with Mayer Specialty Services, LLC. to repair and rehabilitate 500 sanitary sewer manholes. The work addresses the effects of excessive hydrogen sulfide corrosion and extends the life of these sewer assets.
The manhole lining process provides a less expensive and less disruptive alternative to allowing these assets to “run to failure” and replacing them at a future date. Mayer Specialty Services, LLC. is manufacturer certified to apply Zebron Lining Systems, which is a product approved for use on City manholes in the City of Olathe Technical Specifications.
The manhole lining rehabilitation is managed by the Field Operations Division of Infrastructure. Staff is proposing an amendment to extend the contract term through July 31, 2027, and add $150,000 to the agreement to allow Mayer Specialty Services, LLC. to complete the rehabilitation work.
