Summary:

This project will improve Santa Fe from Ridgeview Road to Mur-Len Road.  Improvements will include a reconstructed interchange at I-35, new bridges, pavement widening/reconstruction, roadway realignments/extensions, access control, signal installation, median construction, streetlights, sidewalks, and all other work necessary to complete the project.  As part of the project, the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) will add auxiliary lanes to I-35 from Santa Fe to 119th Street, pavement reconstruction along I-35 and widening of the Old 56 Bridge over I-35 to accommodate 2 lanes.

This Agreement is in place to allow the City of Olathe to reimburse Evergy Metro, Inc. for the utility relocation required for this project. Portions of Evergy’s infrastructure are within private easements and public utility easements dedicated to utilities, thus the City if responsible for costs associated with portions of each phase of the relocation effort. Olathe’s cost for the relocation, as estimated by Evergy Metro, Inc., is $2,408,362.51. This estimate reflects relocation of overhead and underground power and is approximately 33% of the overall cost of the relocation ($7,334,892.61). This estimate includes material, labor, and other costs necessary to complete the relocation.

Evergy’s relocations are expected to begin in Fall 2026 and are anticipated to continue through 2027.
