Summary:
The City of Olathe’s Fire Department has contracted with Blue Valley Public Safety since 2009 through a co-operative contract developed by the Mid-America Regional Council/Kansas City Regional Purchasing Cooperative to purchase outdoor warning siren and maintenance. The sirens provide an effective method to warn residents of impending weather threat in the community.
BVPS has been identified as the exclusive vendor for maintaining storm sirens in the KC metro area. Staff recommends establishing Blue Valley Public Safety as a sole source for this service and a contract renewal for five years.

Financial Impact:
Estimated expenditures annually are roughly $48,000. Estimated annual expenditures for a five year contract are roughly $240,000.
