Summary:
The Stormwater division of Infrastructure has a vacuum excavation truck with a well-maintained cab and chassis. However, the debris body is beyond repair in several areas, rendering the truck unusable. Retiring the truck and purchasing a new one would cost approximately $650,000, and leasing a replacement is not a viable option at this time. Given the circumstances and the significant costs involved in acquiring new equipment, staff has decided to refurbish the debris body. This approach will extend the life of the functioning cab and chassis, allowing us to maximize our investment and maintain operational efficiency.
Staff recommends the authorization of the repair of this vacuum excavation truck.
