Summary:
On June 5, 2018, Council approved the purchase of a compressed natural gas side loader from Truck Component Services (TCS). This type of truck is used by the Solid Waste Division in daily operations for the collection of residential solid waste.
As a result of design and performance issues with two other identical vehicles previously purchased and recently delivered from TCS, the contract with TCS was cancelled on December 17, 2018. Even after multiple attempts by TCS to modify and repair those two trucks, they are continuing to experience operational issues. Staff is evaluating options regarding the previously purchased vehicles.
Staff is requesting to issue a new contract to Elliott Equipment. They have agreed to honor pricing from their original bid in 2018.
The Side Loader (02-07-0514) is being replaced as a part of the regular vehicle replacement process and is fully amortized. The vehicle has paid $347,565 through lease fees into the VERF.
