Summary:
On January 22, 2019, City Council awarded a Professional Services Agreement with HNTB Corporation for design services for the Lake Side Acres Street Reconstruction Project; the Lake Side Acres Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Project; and the Stevenson Street Stormwater Improvements Project. This project is in place to reconstruct streets in the Lake Side Acres neighborhood. The project combines a street reconstruction project with both a sanitary sewer rehabilitation project and a neighborhood flood control project to reduce impacts to citizens and maximize efficiencies.
The stormwater improvements will address street and house flooding that occur along S. Stevenson Drive, near E. Sheridan Street. Design of stormwater infrastructure will include improvements to the existing inlets and storm sewers, drainage channel, culverts, and grading. This project will alleviate the flood risk for eight (8) homes in the project area.
This project was chosen to be funded by Johnson County’s Stormwater Management Advisory Council (SMAC) program in the amount of $199,672.50 (75% of $266,230) for design of the project. In order to accept this funding, the City must approve an Agreement with Johnson County. The SMAC program will also participate in funding 75% of eligible construction costs, which will be brought before City Council as a future Agreement.
The project began design in January 2019, with construction tentatively scheduled to begin in early 2020.

The design and construction of the Lake Side Acres Street Reconstruction Project, the Lake Side Acres Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Project, and the Stevenson Street Stormwater Improvements Project is funded from the following sources:
