Summary:

The City of Olathe is pursuing the development of a Communities for All Ages Plan and recognition by the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) through their Communities for All Ages Recognition Program. Beginning in 2005, MARC and a group of organizations across the United States, convened to study aging in our communities and ways to adapt services and infrastructure to be responsive to residents of all ages. A collaboration between the First Suburbs Coalition and KC Communities for All Ages led to the creation of a toolkit for elected officials and planners to respond to evolving trends within the Kansas City Metropolitan Area. MARC then developed a regional framework and checklist for communities to evaluate their progress in becoming a recognized Community for All Ages.

The first level of recognition in the MARC program is the Bronze level. This includes adopting a resolution of support indicating the City’s intent to become a Community for All Ages. Attached is a resolution for your consideration acknowledging that the City will pursue recognition in the MARC Communities for All Ages program. Next steps include the submittal of an application in April 2019 for MARC Bronze recognition.
