Summary:
Santa Fe, between Ridgeview Road and Mur-Len Road, has insufficient capacity to handle the volume of traffic. This project will evaluate various options to expand Santa Fe to increase capacity and improve safety. Options may include widening the existing roadway, a backage road or other options, as well as access management. Also included in the project will be an evaluation of the Santa Fe Street and I-35 interchange. The project will also engage local business and land development experts to evaluate redevelopment opportunities along the corridor.
A Request for Qualifications for this project was issued on February 20, 2019. Five (5) firms responded to this request, and HNTB Corporation (HNTB) was selected based on the submitted qualifications. The proposed agreement with HNTB includes traffic analysis, geometric evaluations, public involvement, and economic analyses. The total cost of this agreement is $499,345.
Staff will return to Council in the future with a status report for this project.
