Subject: An agreement with WaterOne for the relocation of water distribution mains for the Woodland Road, K-10 to College Boulevard, Improvements Project, PN 3-C-041-18.

Item Description: Consideration of an Intergovernmental Agreement with Water District No. 1 of Johnson County for the Woodland Road, K-10 to College Boulevard, Improvements Project, PN 3-C-041-18.

Summary: This agreement is in place to allow the City of Olathe to relocate the necessary portions of the Water District No. 1 of Johnson County (WaterOne) distribution main located along Woodland Road between K-10 Highway and College Boulevard.  This relocation is necessary to move the utility to a location that will allow for the City of Olathe to construct the improvements associated with the Woodland Road, K-10 to College Boulevard, Improvements Project.

 

WaterOne has provided an estimated relocation cost of $872,000 for the relocation work.  Olathe’s portion of the estimated cost is $819,680.  This estimate reflects 94% of the total cost of relocation and is based on the amount of existing water main within an existing easement owned by WaterOne and the existing right-of-way.  This estimate includes all materials, construction, labor, survey, inspection and all other costs necessary to complete the relocation.

 

The Intergovernmental Agreement with WaterOne will allow the City of Olathe to undertake the relocation as part of the construction of the Woodland Road, K-10 to College Boulevard, Improvements Project. 

 

The relocation of this distribution main is tentatively scheduled to begin in the winter of 2019, with completion in Spring 2020.
