Consideration of a Grant of Permanent Communications Easement from the City of Olathe to Comcast of Missouri, LLC for the Santa Fe Street and Ridgeview Road Geometric Improvements Project, PN 3-C-083-15..

Summary:
This project will include the construction of a designated right turn lane and an additional thru lane for southbound traffic, an additional left turn lane, and additional thru lane and a designated right turn lane for eastbound traffic, an additional left turn lane, an additional thru lane and a designated right turn lane for northbound traffic along with an additional southbound lane on the south leg, an additional left turn lane and a third traveling lane on the east leg of the intersection. Also included will be median modifications to allow for increased storage in the left turn lanes on all legs of the intersection. As part of this project there will also be a 2” mill and overlay on Santa Fe between I-35 and Kansas City Road. This portion of the work will be paid for from the 2020 Street Preservation Program.
This project requires Comcast of Missouri, LLC (Comcast) to relocate their existing underground and overhead facilities. The lines are currently located throughout the intersection and need to be relocated to allow for the construction of the Santa Fe and Ridgeview project. Comcast has opted to re-route their utility to avoid the intersection all together to allow room for other utilities in the area.
The Grant of Permanent Communications Easements allows Comcast to continue their re-routed line under the interstate and across the City of Olathe property at 301 N Rogers Road. Dedication of this easement is necessary to allow the relocation required as part of the Santa Fe and Ridgeview project.
This project is currently in the utility relocation phase. Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in Spring 2020.

Funding for the Santa Fe Street and Ridgeview Road Geometric Improvements project, as approved in the 2019 Capital Improvement Plan, includes:
