Summary:

On July 16, 2019, City Council awarded a contract to Wiedenmann, Inc., in the amount of $995,817.00 for construction of the Little Cedar Creek (Park to Elm) Phase 1, Stormwater Improvements Project.  This project will include enlarging the Loula Street culvert, channel improvements, flood benching, retaining wall construction, and the elimination of the flood risk to eight (8) homes identified within the 100-year floodplain through project improvements, of which six (6) were voluntary home buyouts currently being demolished.

This phase is the twelfth (12th) of twenty (20) identified watershed flood control projects located in the FEMA regulated floodplain.

This project was chosen to be funded by Johnson County’s SMAC program in the amount of $1,652,093 (75% of $2,202,791) for the design and construction of the project.  In order to accept this funding, the City must approve an inter-local agreement with the Johnson County SMAC program.

Construction will begin September 2019, with completion by the end of 2019.
