Summary:
On June 6, 2018, the City entered into a Consulting Agreement with Shockey Consulting Services, LLC, for services related to the Olathe 2040 Strategic Planning process (Attachment A). The Agreement was for an agreed-upon scope of work at a contract amount not to exceed $110,000 for work through March 1, 2019. During the process, staff engaged Shockey in additional services beyond the original scope of work, including lengthening the community input and meeting process to ensure adequate community input, time to report back to the community, and time for over seventy staff and City leaders to work through the entire Strategic Planning Process to produce the draft needed for Council.
Supplemental Agreement No. 1 (Attachment B) accounts for the additional scope of work and costs associated thereto. The total fee for the additional professional services provided pursuant to Supplemental Agreement No. 1 is $95,980.00, which raises the total fee for all services provided under the Agreement from $110,000.00 to $186,750.00. The Supplemental Agreement also extends Shockey’s completion date for its entire scope of work to October 31, 2019.
The Olathe 2040 Future Ready Strategic Plan is a platform designed to launch Olathe to be positioned to get out ahead of issues our community will be facing through 2040. The Plan will set a course for future generations to live and work in one of the best future-ready cities in the nation, serving as a guide for Olathe to be more responsive to adversity and to be more resilient, innovative, nimble, and collaborative over the next 20 years. Olathe will have large issues that will not always be solved by the City alone or solved overnight. This Plan helps the community peer over the horizon to position itself for success.

Financial Impact:
The Supplemental Agreement is for a maximum amount of $186,750.00.
