Consideration of Change Order No. 2 to the contract with O’Donnell & Sons Construction Co., Inc. for improvements to Kansas City Road, as part of the Lone Elm Road Arterial Mill and Overlay Project, PN 3-P-003-19..

Summary:
This change order will allow for the removal of the existing street pavers and installation of an asphalt surface on 1,160 feet of Kansas City Road, between Ridgeview Road and Mahaffie Street (near the Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop & Farm Historic Site). In recent years the street pavers on Kansas City have required numerous repairs on an annual basis. Replacing the pavers with an asphalt surface will reduce the amount of maintenance required on this arterial street.
This change order adds $171,708.50 to the construction contract total. The current contract amount of $1,222,418.65 will be increased by this change order to $1,394,127.15. This increase is within the authorized budget for the 2019 Street Preservation Program.
Construction is scheduled to be completed by early October.

Financial Impact:
This project is funded from the City of Olathe’s 2019 Street Preservation Program authorized on January 22, 2019. Authorized revenue for the 2019 Street Preservation Program includes:
Street Maintenance Sales Tax $12,750,000
CIP Fund $ 2,800,000
General Obligation Bonds $ 1,000,000
Total $16,550,000
