Summary:
On September 26, 2019, seven (7) bids were received and opened for the above referenced project. The bids ranged from $2,161,944.15 to $3,712,336.85 with the Engineer’s Estimate at $3,664,620.00. Beemer Construction Co., Inc. submitted the low and responsible bid in the amount of $2,161,944.15. The following is a tabulation of the bids received:

The watermain located along Old 56 Highway and west of Robinson Drive, was prioritized within the Waterline Rehabilitation program for full replacement in 2022. Due to recently discovered water pressure problems, this main was re-prioritized for full replacement and upsizing in 2019-2020 to ensure that adequate water service is provided to the southwest portion of Olathe including the Prairie Highland subdivisions, Oak Run subdivision, I-35 Logistic Park plus wholesale agreements with New Century Air Station and Rural Water District No. 7 of Johnson County.
Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in November 2019 and be completed by the late Spring 2020.

Financial Impact:
Funding for the Old 56 Highway Watermain Improvements Project includes:
Water & Sewer Capital Reserve $ 980,000.00
SDF Water $3,920,000.00
Total $4,900,000.00
