Summary:
The Mahaffie Circle Improvements Project will extend Mahaffie Circle from its existing terminus north of 151st Street to the intersection of Old 56 Highway and Church Street. Improvements include extending the bridge over the railroad on I-35, pavement, curb and gutter, storm sewer, streetlights, and sidewalks. A new 12” waterline is also being installed along the new roadway to enhance water pressure issues on the east side of I-35.
This agreement is in place to reimburse Evergy Kansas Central, Inc. (Evergy) for deenergizing and removing portions of their overhead distribution lines above I-35 to allow work on the I-35 bridge work for the Mahaffie Circle Improvements Project. The total cost of the reimbursement is $71,868.37.
Construction of the extension of Mahaffie Circle is scheduled to be completed by late summer 2020.

GO Bonds $ 6,000,000
Revenue Bonds (Water) $ 500,000
KDOT $ 7,000,000
Other Funds (Development Agreement w/Garmin) $ 1,800,000
Total $15,300,000
