Summary:
Building upon the recommendations included in the Transportation Master Plan and the Envision Olathe Downtown Plan, the City partnered with MARC to further define a downtown active transportation network. The network includes trails, shared use paths, bike lanes and bicycle boulevards to provide multimodal connections from downtown to existing assets, including Lake Olathe, Mill Creek Trail, Gary Haller Trail and Indian Creek Trail.
The Downtown Active Transportation plan includes recommendations for the Kansas Avenue Streetscape, implementation strategies and guidelines for developing a Complete Streets policy. The recommended Complete Streets policy aligns with the City’s current design standards and improves the City’s ability to compete for MARC grant funding.
