Consideration of Engineer’s Estimate, acceptance of bids and award of contract to VF Anderson Builders, LLC for construction of the Santa Fe Street and Ridgeview Road Geometric Improvements Project, PN 3-C-083-15, and the Santa Fe Street Arterial Mill and Overlay, PN 3-P-001-19. .

Summary:
On April 14, 2020, two (2) bids were received and opened for the above reference project. The bids ranged from $7,159,633.42 to $9,137,040.28 with the Engineer’s Estimate at $8,839,710.00. VF Anderson Builders, LLC submitted the low and responsible bid in the amount of $9,137,040.28. The bid from Gunter Construction Company was rejected as an incomplete bid due to the exclusion of all line items related to sanitary sewer. The following is a tabulation of the bids received:

This project will include the construction of a designated right turn lane and an additional thru lane for southbound traffic; an additional left turn lane, and additional thru lane and a designated right turn lane for eastbound traffic; an additional left turn lane, an additional thru lane and a designated right turn lane for northbound traffic; an additional southbound lane on the south leg of the intersection; an additional left turn lane for westbound traffic; and a third traveling lane on the east leg of the intersection for eastbound traffic. Also included will be median modifications to allow for increased storage in the left turn lanes on all legs of the intersection.
As part of this project there will also be a 2” mill and overlay on Santa Fe between I-35 and Kansas City Road. This portion of the work will be paid for from the Street Preservation Program budget.
Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in May 2020 and to be completed in early 2021.
