Summary:
The watermain located along Old 56 Highway and west of Robinson Drive, was prioritized for full replacement and upsizing in 2019-2020 to ensure that adequate water service is provided to the southwest portion of Olathe including the Prairie Highland subdivisions, Oak Run subdivision, I-35 Logistic Park plus wholesale agreements with New Century Air Station and Rural Water District No. 7 of Johnson County.
This change order will allow for the replacement of an additional 361 linear feet of aging cast iron watermain on Robinson Drive south of Dennis Avenue. This section of watermain is immediately adjacent to the current project and has experienced 6 breaks in the past 2 years, with two of those breaks occurring in April 2020. This additional watermain replacement can be completed quickly since the contractor is already working in this area and will eliminate future digging in Robinson Street by combining this work with existing work being completed with the current project.
This change order adds $77,203.00 to the construction contract total. The current contract amount of $2,228,485.09 will be increased with this change order to $2,305,688.09. This increase is within the project budget.
Construction of the additional watermain replacement will be completed in summer of 2020.
