Summary:
In 2018, property owners in the vicinity of 167th and Hedge Lane petitioned the City to create a benefit district to install sanitary sewer lines from existing South Cedar Creek Sanitary Sewer southeast of 167th Street and Hedge Lane, north along S. Erickson Street, approximately 2,600 lineal feet, to include 6, 8, 10 and 12” sanitary sewer consisting of PVC and DIP pipe.
Council passed Resolution No. 18-1071 creating the project at the August 21, 2018 Council meeting.
The project is now complete and ready for assessment and permanent financing.
The total cost is $536,607.85, as shown on the Statement of Final Cost included as Attachment A. The cost will be apportioned on a per square foot basis to the property owners within the benefit district as shown on the Assessment Roll Certification included as Attachment B.
Property owners waived rights to formal notice of and the holding of a public hearing by the City for the purpose of considering special assessments against the property. The waiver is included as Attachment C.
Ordinance No. 20-21 directs the City to levy the assessments and issue bonds to permanently finance the cost of the project. After the general obligation bonds have been issued, the assessments will be certified to the tax rolls along with the interest to be collected over the lifetime of the bonds of ten years.
