Summary:

The Fire Department established a task force of Fire Department and Resource Management personnel in 2016 to review the various manufacturers of fire apparatus. The result of the task force was a decision to establish Pierce Manufacturing, Inc., as the City’s standard. Pierce fire apparatus are available through the Houston-Galveston Area Cooperative (HGAC), a national competitive bidding cooperative, and is handled locally by Conrad Fire Equipment, Inc (HGAC Contract# 12-19).

The original cost of the pumper is $719,632.90.  A pre-payment incentive of $23,549.84 will be applied, resulting in the total cost of $696,083.06.

Additional accessory equipment for the apparatus will be purchased from various vendors at an estimated cost of $190,000.00.

This Pierce Velocity Pumper will be replacing Vehicle ID #2061020, a 2010 Quint Aerial Ladder as part of the regular vehicle replacement process. The trade-in value of the Quint Aerial Ladder will be $200,000.

Staff recommends award of contract to Conrad Fire Equipment, Inc. which is in Olathe.

The vehicle is being replaced as a part of the regular vehicle replacement process. The vehicle has paid $534,630 through lease fees into the VERF. VERF fund balance will cover the additional $351,453.06 less the $200,000 trade-in value.
