Summary:
The Storm Rehabilitation Improvements Project includes the repair and replacement of storm sewer corrugated metal pipes (CMP), inlets and boxes, and culverts. This year’s project included the replacement of a 108” CMP under 125th Street at an estimated cost of $338,000. Staff inspected the CMP and determined that it would be a candidate to apply a concrete lining to the pipe to extend the pipe’s service life and avoid a costly replacement. This rehabilitation method also cuts down the total time on site by 75% and will not disturb other infrastructure.
After a competitive bid process, the City entered into a price agreement with Mayer Specialty Services, LLC for the lining of manholes and underground pipes. Utilizing this price agreement, Mayer will repair all rusted holes in the CMP under 125th Street and apply a fiber-reinforced cementitious mixture to the interior of the pipe for $142,500.75.
This project has received Johnson County SMAC Program funds which will provide for 50% of construction costs up to a maximum of $250,000
Construction is tentatively scheduled to occur in Spring 2021.
