Summary:
The Fire Department requests authorization to purchase two (2) Bauer SCBA Compressors to be placed at Fire Station 8 and Olathe Fire Academy. These Bauer SCBA Compressors will be purchased from Conrad Fire Equipment through a sole source purchase since Conrad Fire Equipment is the authorized Bauer dealer for the territory. This purchase will include installation and initial operational start up.
The Bauer Verticus SCBA compressor fill stations are recommended for purchase for these projects due their low maintenance and their long history of reliability compared to other compressor products on the market. The Verticus compressor was also selected for its sound attenuated cabinet to reduce the ambient noise within the facility.
Fire Station 8 will receive one (1) Bauer 10HP Verticus SCBA Compressor for $52,999.86. Olathe Fire Academy will receive one (1) Bauer 15HP Verticus SCBA Compressor for $69,508.31. Both Bauer Compressors will result in the total purchase cost of $122,508.17.
Staff recommends award of contract to Conrad Fire Equipment Inc. which is an Olathe company.

Financial Impact:
Estimated expenditure of $122,508.17 ($52,999.86 for Fire Station 8 and $69,508.31 for Olathe Fire Academy) to be funded through the budgeted FFE for the Fire Station 8 and Olathe Fire Academy capital projects.
