Summary:
The City of Overland Park, Kansas is performing maintenance of a bridge on Pflumm Road north of 143rd Street. Maintenance includes replacing the expansion joints and installing a polymer concrete overlay to the bridge deck, which will protect it from the infiltration of deicing salts and reduce long-term maintenance costs. The City of Overland Park contacted the City of Olathe Engineering department to request a cost share project earlier this year.
The Agreement identifies a total project cost of $113,300 to be split between the City of Olathe and the City of Overland Park according maintenance needs on each of the bridges (Olathe is responsible for maintenance on the southbound bridge; Overland Park is responsible for the maintenance on the northbound bridge). The Olathe share of the project is 55% of the total project cost, totaling an estimated $62,400. Administration of the project will be provided by Overland Park.
Reimbursement will be made to the City of Overland Park upon satisfactory completion of the project. The total cost of the reimbursement is available from the City of Olathe’s 2021 Structures Repair Project, which was authorized by City Council on January 19, 2021.
This project is scheduled to be completed in Summer 2021.
